What stands out in Pasadena
Speed-related fatal or injury collisions increased from 104 to 125, while nighttime collisions increased from 62 to 79. Those are differences of 21 and 17 collisions, respectively. Because categories can overlap, adding them would not produce a count of additional unique crashes.
Victims in pedestrian-involved collisions increased from 68 to 75; the bicyclist-involved victim count decreased slightly, from 46 to 45. Pasadena’s increase in the overall total did not mean every category increased. The OTS methodology draws on SWITRS police-reported data. Victim measures combine people killed and injured; one collision can affect several people. The second table counts collisions. Property-damage-only events are excluded, and categories can overlap.
City coverage excludes CHP reports on roads with shared jurisdiction. These are not complete geographic counts of every crash within city boundaries. City and county figures overlap and should not be added.
These counts are not adjusted for travel, population, or reporting differences. They cannot rank individual risk, establish fault, or identify a cause. Publisher revisions may change historical figures; the downloadable files preserve this dated snapshot.
